Tom Marsh & Peter Baldock – Crafting Timeless Gardens

Tom Marsh and Peter Baldock bring together decades of experience and a shared passion for creating gardens that are both beautiful and enduring. Their work is deeply rooted in traditional design methods, combining artistic vision with practical horticultural expertise to create landscapes that resonate with the English garden tradition.

Tom Marsh has spent over 23 years working alongside Peter, contributing his artistic and design expertise to some of England’s finest gardens, including Gravetye Manor, Wood Norton Hall, and Oxon Hoath in Hadlow. Tom’s drawing skills are central to their design process—eschewing computers in favor of pencil, pen, and paper, he translates ideas and ambitions into precise, inspired illustrations. Recognized early for his talent, Tom was accepted into the Society of Architectural Illustrators at just 16 and is now a full member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. His work captures the essence of the English landscape, whether on canvas or in the gardens he helps shape.

Peter Baldock comes from a lineage of horticulturists, trained at RHS Wisley, and won Garden of the Year in his first head gardener role at Pashley Manor Gardens with the Historical Housing Association. Peter possesses an instinctive understanding of garden design, proportion, and what will look right, honed by years of hands-on experience in real gardens. His approach combines practical know-how with an intuitive aesthetic, ensuring that every design is both achievable and enduring.

Together, Tom and Peter help ambitious garden owners and guardians uncover the full potential of their outdoor spaces, whether starting from scratch or seeking to restore a classical garden. Their approach balances creativity and craft, imagination and practicality—producing gardens that are not only visually stunning but designed to stand the test of time.
